INTEGRITY & SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFIED
What’s the deal with the seal?
Pick up a bottle of Indaba Wines and look for the sustainability seal displayed on the capsule. Certified by the Wine and Spirit Board of South Africa, this seal is a guarantee of the wine’s origin, vintage and variety as stated on the wine label. It is also a guarantee that the wine complies with IPW criteria – Integrated Production of Wine, a voluntary environmental protection program established by the South African wine industry. The seal verifies your bottle of Indaba was crafted under strict guidelines requiring eco-friendly wine production and sustainable agricultural, manufacturing and packaging practices.
Natural Habitat Conservation
Committed to protecting the rich biodiversity of the land, we follow careful measures that enhance the suitability of our vineyards as a home for native animals and plants. This includes farming practices that encourage a diverse population of native animals and removal of alien vegetation.
Natural Pest Management
Every now and then a pest comes along that poses an indefinite threat to the vineyards. Instead of applying pesticides that can have a negative impact on the natural ecosystem, we control pest damage by utilizing the aid of native birds and insects.
Water is a valuable resource not only vital to sustaining life, but also essential to growing the grapes that produce our wines. We keep a close eye on usage in the vineyard and cellar by training our staff on sustainable methods, cleaning up waste, and ensuring safe reuse of water.
We constantly monitor energy usage and keep up-do-date with alternative methods that prove energy efficient. Our vineyards and cellars are designed to make the most of natural light and indoors we exchange traditional lighting for energy efficient compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs.
In order to minimize our environmental footprint, the Indaba Wines labels are designed specifically using high quality recycled paper. The fibers are FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council) and the paper is completely biodegradable.
